Baking textures in blender 2.54beta

In this tutorial I update the last way to achieve the texture baking from the 2.49 version to 2.54beta version.

The first you need for this recipe is:

1 model ready to bake
1 or some UV textures in your object data
1 or some new images in your uv image editor

To start, in the 3d view, select the model that is going to be baked. Enter into the edit mode, then select all the vertices. Go into the uv image editor, if you haven't loaded the new images do it now.

Check that the UV unfold is at its point, just like in the image. Now move on to assign a new material, season it with colors and sprinkle a color ramp for over to give it that tone which is looked for in the material.

Having done that, move on to his Render panel. Search for the Bake section. Here marinate a margin of 2, which this will make the texture to extend 2 pixels over where the UV reaches, what will leave us a very delicious image. Press bake and wait for some minutes while the texture is cooked at slow fire in blender.


It's done! You have a texture very well baked.


A very special taste

If we want to give it an extra special taste to the bake, you can add an au gratin of ambient occlusion to the mix.

To prepare the ambient occlusion, go to your world panel and go down until the ambient occlusion section, cook it at a 0.37 with a multiply mix. In the Gather section add Approximate
and add to it 2 pinches of passes then put in a measure of 0.050 of error.

In the UV image editor, amass a new image called AO png style. Back at the render section, cover the bake mode with the option ambient occlusion. Now, press bake again, wait for some minutes until the new image is well cooked.


Now we have the sauce of ambient occlusion ready to cover the model.


As final touch

At your textures panel, add two textures (colormap and AOmap). To both you put the type to Image or Movie, the mapping at uv with a slice of UVanim in the layer option. You can taste the result already. At the image section, add the corresponding image to each texture.

Repeat the process for the other texture but add the other baked image. The other ingredients
(options) are the same.

To an extra tasty flavour, at the texture AOmap, in its influence section, add to it a measure of 3.320 of color to his texture, and mix it with screen in the blend option.

At last our model have been cooked.
